Obama and Chamberlain – Same Philosophy, Same Policy

Obama and Chamberlain – Same Philosophy, Same Policy Obama’s foreign policy resembles Chamberlain’s (British PM) while Germany was preparing for war. WWII unlike other wars had a lasting impact on the whole world for two generations. It established a protected communist system with its spheres of influence and started the “cold war’. Thousands of people died and millions were negatively affected, mostly due to the totalitarian communist control. Eastern Europe would have been just Europe. Think Vietnam and Korean wars. They were the net result of a pacifistic philosophy. Of course, Teddy Roosevelt was part of it to a certain extend. History speaks for itself. Below is a synopsis of how one leader of the powerful nation of Great Britain ignored reality. Chamberlain alone could have saved millions of people from suffering, while making the whole world a better place for everybody, as of 1938 and not as of 1990 when the communism collapsed. How about Hitler? He would have stayed as a chancellor and eventually voted out. No holocaust would have occurred. England and France had plenty of military power at the time. Great Britain failed to stop Mussolini from invading Abyssinia (Ethiopia). That was 1935. Chamberlain failed to stop Hitler from invading Austria. That was 1938. Chamberlain failed to stop Hitler from invading Czechoslovakia. That was 1938. Eden, Chamberlain’s foreign minister and some of his staff, resigned from the cabinet. They felt that Chamberlain was too much of a pacifist. “He wanted peace more than anything else”. What is even more puzzling, Germany was financially broke while arming itself, and had no credit. England was the only country who extended credit to Hitler. Hitler discounted France. France was too busy building their socialist society. Remember, 1938 was a year when most European countries were becoming quite prosperous, mostly due to the industrial revolution. No more rich monarchs sucking the peasants’ blood. Communism was on the rising and the proletarians were ready to take over the wealth from the rich and distribute it to themselves. Stalin was their God and the Germans elected Hitler as their God. Hitler was ready to deliver, and he almost did. The British – 1938 First of all, Great Britain is not Europe. From the USA continent is seems that way. It is an island and as such had been protected over the years by the water, The English Channel. That was before the aircraft was invented. British foreign policy was based on the concept of “the balance of power” with Britain holding the balance. In that regard, Britain had tended, when France was stronger than Germany, to support Germany; when Germany was stronger than France, to support France. Since the War I, the League of Nations has been a convenient mechanism to this end; if the League ceased to serve British purpose, Britain ignored it. England was very pro-German even after Hitler established dictatorial rules in Germany. So were the Americas, including the United States. Many in England, such as Tories, believed that an England-German alliance would be beneficial to fend off Communist Russia, called Soviet Union. In fact England was the only ally Germany had at the time. The city of London had enormous investments in Germany. Many powerful individuals disliked France and the French; therefore tended to be pro-German. Many influential personalities believed that a stable Germany under Hitler will insure peace. League of Nations – 1938 1918 January 8 The President of the United States of America, Woodrow Wilson, in his message on the Conditions of Peace delivered at a Joint Session of the Two Houses of the American Congress, identifies the “fourteen points” intended to serve as the basis for world peace. Point 14 says: “A general association of nations should be formed on the basis of covenants designed to create mutual guarantees of the political independence and territorial integrity of States, large and small equally.” The League of Nations, what is today the United Nations, was conceived by Woodrow Wilson, while the USA did not intent to become a signatory. The league was just a mouthpiece of member states. The League decided nothing; the individual states carried all responsibilities. The Covenant was written in the assumption the United States of America would be a signatory. The League turned out to be ineffective because the participating states lacked a policeman, the United States. In 1933, Germany and Japan withdrew from the League. The brief history of the League may be divided into there periods. Until the Treaty of Locarno in 1925 it was for the most part the instrument of victorious powers. Then till 1933, when Germany departed, it struggled with the problem of disarmament: The allied powers refused to obey their pledges and to disarm. Since 1933 the major issue had been “collective security,” meaning an attempt to bring Germany into a security system on the basis of more or less equal rights. In retrospect, just like today’s United Nations, the League of Nations was totally ineffective in avoiding a major conflict. United States First Amendment vs. Communism

Note how the communism did exactly the opposite of what The First Amendment was designed to do.

The United States adopted the First Amendment of the Constitution on December 15, 1791.

The Bolshevik revolution started the creation of Soviet Union, a country almost ten times the size of the

United States and Canada combined, in 1917. That was 126 years after the First Amendment was added to the

US Constitution.

Did the Soviets tried to learn anything from the so called “New World”,  America?

No, a resounding NO!

Communism collapsed on its own weight of an incompetent government that meddled too much into peoples’ life

instead of setting them free. All they had to do is learn from America. But that’s not the way communism operated.

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution is part of the Bill of Rights.

The amendment prohibits the making of any law “respecting an establishment of religion”, impeding the free

exercise of religion, infringing on the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press,

interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress

of grievances.

US First Amendment to the Constitution

1. Prohibits the making of any law “respecting an establishment of religion.”

The founders did not want a state sponsored church or religion.

Communism
Communism replaced the church and God with communist ideologist Marx, Engels, Lenin and Stalin. Communism
became the church and its leaders the Gods.

The communists established the new sponsored state religion, Communism.

US First Amendment to the Constitution

2. Prohibits the making of any law that Prohibits impeding the free exercise of religion.
The founders wanted the religion to be free of government interference.

Communism
Communism did not close the churches. It elevated the head of church to a ministerial position and kept all

the priests and clergy on government payroll and there were no complains from the clergy.
On the other hand, the public was advised not to attend the church. Planted spies reported on individuals
who attended, and these individuals were reprimanded. Within few years, the churches were empty and stayed
that way. Only elderly women attended.

US First Amendment to the Constitution

3. Prohibits the making of any law that Prohibits infringing on the freedom of speech.
This is self explanatory.

The freedom of speech is probably the most difficult topic to explain to the American public, mostly
because there is no precedence in the American history. The political correctness speech comes somehow
close.

Communism
To critique the government was a criminal offense, even if it was done in private. If one was reported even
by one’s child, the secret police would open an interrogation often preceded by the individual’s arrest.
All criminal charges were executed in secret. My uncle was arrested as he got off the train. Nobody in our
family knew anything about his fate, until two years later when he showed up. All he did was sharing his
frustration about the communist government with a stranger in the train while traveling. The stranger was
an informant.

Even the legal system, whatever was worth, was so deeply affected that it was impossible to sue any
institution (since all belonged to the government and run by loyal communists.) The main reason was: The
communist government could never be wrong.
People learned at an early age what could not be said in public. We became diplomats even in private
conversations at home within the family.

US First Amendment to the Constitution

4. Prohibits the making of any law that Prohibits infringing on the freedom of the press.
Freedom of the press is also self explanatory although “fairness doctrine” comes close to what the
communism implemented. The press could only attack the enemy of the state. The state was immune.

Communism
Communists understood the power of the media even before radio was invented. When the communist government
took hold of power, the first thing they did was to control all media organizations. The media became the propaganda machine. It included also arts and movie industry. Each media organization was assigned a very strict censor.

US First Amendment to the Constitution

5. Prohibits the making of any law that Prohibits interfering with the right to peaceably assemble
Peaceful assemblies are also self explanatory. It is more difficult to explain how the communists managed
to ban all unofficial assemblies.

Communism
Communists knew very well the power of assembly, especially if held in secret. They themselves used it
quite successfully to gain political power. The government decreed that each assembly and its purpose must
be reported. An assembly was defined as three people or more. The Soviets went so far as to build restrooms
with open stalls (no doors) to make sure nobody could hide in the privacy of the bathroom. At least that’s
what I was told in a visit at an aircraft factory in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

US First Amendment to the Constitution

6. Prohibits the making of any law that Prohibits the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances
Even this government has been trying to make it very difficult for private entities to sue but it is still

possible.

Communism
Communism made impossible for any private individual entity to sue any organization. I am not talking about
suing the government. No attorney would dare. It was suicidal. I am talking about suing government owned
factories or food processors who sold tainted food. The reason was very simple. They were all run by loyal
communist managers, most of them incompetent. The court, controlled by the communist leaders, took the
position that the government entities were always right and charges were unsubstantiated. No one could ever
win, unless the top manager involved fell out of favor with party bosses and was summarily dismissed.

Why Communism Collapsed? – Education!

Communism collapsed when the new leaders and the population within became educated. Liberals in the US are trying hard to dumb down education, so that this country will slowly drift towards socialism. I grew up under communism and received most of my education there. I and my friends firmly believed that communism will collapse on itself from top down and, it was bound to happen once the leadership lost confidence that a communist society could ever work. That is exactly what happened in the end. When my father was in his mid 30s, became on assistant professor at a prominent university, while studying for his second degree in engineering. That was in the mid 1950s, when communism was less than 10 years old. Many of his colleagues and some of his students became top managers in factories and ministries. They believed in communism and its future. That was then. After 15 years, their confidence in the system started fading. That was the beginning of the end of communism. Communists believed in education. It was provided for free. They invested heavily in the athletic activities. They wanted to portray to the world that the communist society was vastly superior. Developing individual talent was very important and in a way, similar with what Hitler tried to do. Develop a superior race. In the 1960s, Soviet party leadership was still based on the old loyal party activists associated with Stalin, Kruschev and later Andropv. These leaders were uneducated communist hard liners. In the 1950s Hungary tried to brake away, and the Soviets sent the Soviet army. In 1960s, Checkoslovakia tried to do the same and immediately the Soviet army showed up. Gorbachev and Yeltsin were the first educated leaders. They could not ignore the ongoing destruction of their own society in the name of communism. There are many valid theories regarding the collapse of communism as a social system of government. Communism has and it will always be an unstable social system for a very simple reason: It is totalitarian and requires the state police powers to muffle and to eliminate dissent. The history speaks for itself, just look at ex Soviet Union. If the communism was so wonderful, why would it be necessary to be kept together by the strong arm of police (internal security). It was necessary because after years of empty promises, everybody was unhappy, including a large number of high level party leaders. Economic inefficiencies and corruption was the norm. No surprise here. Soviet Union was established in 1917 and two generation later young educated people had to wait years to get into a state owned one bedroom apartment. Socialism is not necessarily more stable. When dealing with social problems, it tends to drift towards communism. During the early days of communism, Eastern European countries, France, Italy, all had the communist party much in control of their governments. Even today, Italians can declare non confidence in their government and replace it just about any time they want. That is not stability. Communism Collapse The following is a synopsis of the collapse of communism and how the Western media reported it. It did not know what to make of it. Pay attention to this report. “A stunning series of events between 1989 and 1991 that led to the fall of communist regimes in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. Faced with massive popular opposition and the unwillingness of President Mikhail Gorbachev to send Soviet troops to their rescue, communist governments lost power, first in Poland, where the communists agreed to free elections that swept into power candidates endorsed by Solidarity in June 1989.” From answers.com Notice the statement “unwillingness of President Mikhail Gorbachev to send Soviet troops”. By implication, the only way for the Eastern European communist governments to stay in power was with the help of Soviet troops, and it was reported by the free Western press. First of all, the communist government of Poland agreed to free elections and President Gorbachev agreed also. He was already doing something similar in his own country. His first step was to reform communism. Here is the rest. “Demands for reform spread across East Germany in the fall of 1989 and led to the end of the Berlin Wall and the unification of East and West Germany. In November 1989 the communist government of Czechoslovakia resigned, and in December a violent revolution led to the overthrow and execution of Romania's communist boss, Nicolae Ceausescu. The Bulgarian parliament revoked the Communist party's monopoly on power in 1990, and in 1991 popular opposition forced the resignation of the communist cabinet in Albania. The failure of a communist-led coup d'état against Mikhail Gorbachev in the Soviet Union in August 1991 ended the party's control of the military and government.” From answers.com President Gorbachev decided to keep his troops home. That was the end of communism. When WW2 ended, there was little support for a communist system of government in Europe, including Eastern Europe. President Roosevelt handed over Eastern Europe to Stalin for no good reason. Eastern Europe did not attack Soviet Union, Hitler did. Soviet Union with its army enslaved Eastern Europe under the name of communism, after the war ended. Tr Cojoc 4/10/2010

Health Care Reform and National ID Cards

Health Care Reform and National ID Cards

Recently passed health care reform (HC bill) raises a multitude of issues regarding personal privacy and government intrusion into people’s lives.
For instance:

Page 58 contains the following statement: Government will have real-time access to individuals’ finance & a National ID Health card will be issued.

Page 59 contains the following statement: Government will have direct access to your bank accounts for elective funds transfer.

Looking at the text, it is not difficult to figure out that the government intrusion is implied. The question is, to what extent.

I grew up under communism, or rather witnessed the transition from a normal society to communism. It was not pleasant, to say the least. The country was Romania, population of 23million, shortly after it fell under Soviet control.

I just lunched a new blog Growing up Under Communism with the intention of sharing from own personal experience, in a very simple language, what it means when the government is out of control in exercising its powers.

Granted, communism was extreme in its police powers.

The present authoritarian presidency in conjunction with a like Congress, makes it somehow worrisome and we just have to be prepared for the consequences.

The following is based on my experience, while growing up.

Growing up Under Communism - National ID Card

There is much talk in this country about a national ID card to be used by government entities, to manage various programs, including illegal immigration, healthcare, criminals, and so on. I am dismayed how naïve people supporting this concept are, and for a good reason. They have not witnessed the potential misuse of it, especially when the government has too much power.
As soon as the communists took hold of power, what do you think the first thing they did?

They implemented a mandatory national ID card. The communists believed in the concept of building a new society for the People. People to them were the poor, oppressed and the trodden.

The communist motto states: If You Are Not With Me, You Are My Enemy. If you are my enemy, you must be marginalized or destroyed.
This was the essence of the ID card. The communist government wants to know its enemy, where the enemy lives, and most importantly, marginalize the enemy by controlling its movements. Guess who the potential enemy is? You the individual are the potential enemy!

This is the same concept our government uses today to screen all the airline boarding passengers.

The ID card was adopted by Stalin in the Soviet Union and copied by all the Eastern European Countries, once under Soviet / Communist control.
In a nutshell, the ID card did not use something equivalent with Social Security number. It did not have to. It was a very simple card, like a small passport. It had the name, date of birth and most importantly, the residence address.
The communists declared all cities: Closed City arbitrarily.

This government decree required an official approval for anyone trying to relocate from one town to another, even while changing jobs. In fact, changing jobs had to be approved by the government since it owned the enterprises providing the jobs. Every individual was a government employee whether you worked for a bakery, chocolate factory or for the army.

When you traveled and spend the night in a different city you had to go to the police station in person and report where you were staying that night, even if you stayed with relatives or friends. The hotels handled that for you. There were police street blocks at night inspecting the ID cards. If you did not have an ID card, you were arrested. Police never reported these arrests to the family. You just disappeared – for years.

Stalin used the ID card to the fullest. He conscripted educated managers, engineers, doctors, and sent them to the non-Russian speaking Soviet Union nations hoping to annihilate and control the local cultures and its people. Think Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan even Ukraine. They were forced to live in these places for at least five years. They could not quit and leave, because the ID card would not allow them to apply for another job in a different city. The government had full control of each and all individuals even in a large country like Soviet Union.

“Now for the Slaughter” by Peggy Noonan in Wall Street Journal calls Glenn Beck insane

I sent this letter today to Wall Street Journal in response to Peggy Noonan's "Now for the Slaughter" article. Please comment.

Peggy Noonan calls Glenn Beck insane.

Peggy Noon has used almost a half of the Opinion page mentioning Mr. Baier’s remarkable interview of President Obama. She has a point. My question to Ms. Noonan is: Why are you surprised? The press has been protecting this president to a fault. No relevant questions to this president are permitted.

I was born in Eastern Europe on Dec 7 1941, in the middle of the war. I have some understanding of what the communist / socialist society is about. I escaped communism in 1969 and was lucky enough to be accepted by this great country as an immigrant. I became a naturalized citizen in 1967. I have been watching, to my dismay, an undeniable shift of this society towards socialism from the day I arrived, when Nixon set caps on salaries, way back in the seventies.

The reason I am writing the letter to Ms. Noonan is to make a statement. She should know better from the days when she worked for President Regan. Here is my message: Do not think Glenn Beck is insane. Granted, Glenn might be extreme in his message(s) but he is accurate. I experienced the environment he is been depicting.

She should look closer to her vest for signs of insanity, or at least dereliction of professional duty by most of the media. Peggy Noonan is part of it.

Hitler was a socialist

Socialism Is Deadly

Socialism is not self-sustainable. It needs a leader to employ the power of the state to achieve its goals.
Soviet Union was established in 1922. It called itself Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. It added in short order Soviet Socialist Republics of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belorussia (now Belarus), Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kirgiziya (now Kyrgyzstan), Latvia, Lithuania, Moldavia (now Moldova), Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. They were all called “Socialist”.

Hitler raised to power by building the German Workers’ Party. The name was changed by Hitler to include the term National Socialist. Thus the full name was the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei or NSDAP) called for short, Nazi.

After the war, Soviet Union retained Eastern Europe and installed communist governments. They all became “Socialist”. Czech Socialist Republic, Socialist Republic of Romania and so on.

Socialism is defined (Merriam-Webster) as:

1 Any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods.
2 a. A system of society or group living in which there is no private property. b. A system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state.
3 A stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done.

Father Jenkins Should Resign

Father Jenkins Should Resign

The commencement celebration at Notre Dame today was a sham.  Of course we expected the usual liberal
babblings from the president, but the speech by Father Jenkins was appalling in his support of this President who has an unknown background and a questionable agenda.

Father Jenkins should be forced to resign from Notre Dame. His preclude to Obama's speech should have been focused on the class of 2009 but became the Obama show.  While he went on and on about the abortion issue and how he expressed his "love-fest" for a President who has shown nothing in the first three months but a downward spiral and move toward socialism for our country was not only nauseating but down right insulting.

As a person who has been raised Catholic, I cannot forgive his downright slobbering and intent to please Obama. Many American families, under difficult financial situations, choose to send their children to Notre Dame to get a Catholic education.  Today's abomination would suggest a better alternative to a 35k + price tag.

I respect the faculty at Arizona State University more than the prestigious staff at Notre Dame for choosing NOT to bestow an honorary degree to a president who is questionable in his beliefs and his motivations to run this country.  I would hope the faculty and the alumni of Norte Dame  will ask to force the resignation of Father Jenkins.  His actions are despicable and not upholding to the Catholic faith.

Amid this controversial debate, Obama should have declined the invitation; but since his motives are not in the best interest of Notre Dame or the United States of America, he proceeded to become a headline for a very disturbing topic: Abortion. I am sorry that the graduating class of 2009 had to be held hostage during this circus.  Good luck and God bless you.

Inside Communism

Inside Communism – Personal Rights (Must Read)

Everybody knows the Communism does not work. Socialism is communism in disguise. I always asked myself, why there is such a strong socialist undercurrent in this country of USA?

The following is an insight into the inner workings of a communist society. Statements and stories are not necessarily listed in any order; just thoughts from my personal experience.

Personal Rights

There are no rights. No litigation against the state is possible. The state is never wrong. No litigation against an individual would ever occur; nobody had any money to be collected from.

Individuals were simply “imprisoned” in their homes, city, county and ultimately, country boundaries – the armed guard borders. Dictatorship of the proletarians as claimed by the communist doctrine turned into the dictatorship over the proletarians.

My biological father left my mother, when I was three years old, to join the communist party. Five years later, he became an important communist leader in charge with a large territory. Few years after that he was sent to a labor camp where he spent years, not as leader, as a convict. When he was released he was a broken man. He died at an early age.

My uncle, who was a hotel manager, was arrested as he got off the train coming home. He showed up two years later and nobody knew where he was all this time.

One of my schoolmate’s father was arrested when my freind was only five. After 15 years, when my schoolmate was 20, his father showed up at the door of their residence. All these years his family didn’t know anything about his whereabouts.

A friend of my family, a medical doctor, run into some political problems with the government. His practice license as well as his driving license were suspended. He had to take a labor job, but most upsetting was the fact that he owned a motorcycle he could not use, nor could he sell it. People did not have the money to buy it.

The father of one of my childhood friends, was a taxi driver who owned his cab, a 1938 Cadillac. When the communism system took over, the government suspended his license as an operator as well as the registration license for his cab. He had his automobile sitting in his garage for more that 15 years. He could not drive it, nor could he sell it.

During my teenage years I was involved in competitive athletics: bicycle, skiing and speed ice skating. At the age of 19 I qualified for the national team (bicycling), training for the 1964 Tokyo summer Olympics. During training, the team participated in international races, mostly held in Eastern European countries. My country refused to issue me a passport and I was dropped from the team. I never found out why, in spite of repeated requests at all levels of government.

In the above cases, none of the individuals committed any crimes against the state. The only thing they did, they spoke against the government or were critical of it. I could never find out from them the actual charges. Of course if you were too nosy, you could end up in jail yourself. Everybody was numb and did not want to talk about it.

I watched the congress and the senate hearings, interrogating the oil industry’s executives, treating them as culprits or worse as criminals guilty of making profits on the back of the regular, poor consumer having to pay a “high” price for gasoline. It reminded me the old communist system I escaped 49 years ago. The communists would have condemned and executed the culprits, the executives.

Of course this is the
United States of America, and is not that easy for politicians to eliminate people they don’t like. Believe me, if they could, they would.

The most ridiculous statement was from congresswoman Maxine Waters, stating from the podium of the House of Representative, that the government might have to nationalize the oil industry. How arrogant, or rather stupid that statement can be?

If you think congresswoman Waters is an aberration, think again, she is not. The liberal congress is opening an investigation on “oil futures speculators”.

Futures market has been around for long time. It has served the free trading commerce environment flawlessly for hundreds of years.
Japan had a futures trading system for rice going back to 1750.

Communist system eliminated free trade and credit. Under communism, if you wanted to buy a motorcycle, you had to save the money, deposited in the bank to pay in full, and once you had the full amount, you were allowed to place your name on the waiting list that might take a year or more to take delivery of your motorcycle.

If it was left to the Maxine Waters of the world, we would have to deposit money into a gasoline account and wait with a coupon at a gas station to get our two gallon allocation.

Of course, I am exaggerating, but maybe not.

Futures speculators are the most honest of the bunch; they are using their own money to make a quick buck. Most of them, 95% loose money in the process. Hillary’s $1,000 investment in futures returning $100,000 was a bogus gain; it was a payout. It was impossible. A $10,000 investment could have returned $100k if everything was right. However, a $10K investment could have resulted in a $100k LOSS just as easily.

Futures trading background

In 1878, a central dealing facility was opened in Chicago, where farmers and dealers could deal in ‘spot’ grain, and immediately deliver their wheat crop for a cash settlement. Futures trading evolved as farmers and dealers committed to buying and selling future exchanges of the commodity. For example, a dealer would agree to buy 5,000 bushels of a specified quality of wheat from the farmer in June the following year, for a specified price. The farmer knew how much he would be paid in advance, and the dealer knew his costs.

The most valuable service provided by speculators: PRICE of Commodity

Light oil crude futures, February 2008 with delivery in August, were trading around $90. Any buyer of crude oil, planning delivery in August, 2008 paid $90 for a barrel of oil. Today, June 2008, you can’t get any future delivery contract at below $130.

The speculators’ reading: Congress is not going to do anything good to help alleviate the problem. Secondly, you are on your own and you will pay these high and even higher prices for the near future.

Communism Landed in Eastern Europe Un-Invited

Excerpts from Communism Landed in Eastern Europe Un-Invited

Socialism is Communism in disguise. Give the socialists the police power of government and you have Communism.

Communism has done more damage to humanity than the World War II and is still doing it. Just look at Africa and now Venezuela, not to mention Cuba.

Compassionate Communists

My father had a small business employing two people. His equipment was confiscated and the business closed. He was placed as a worker with one of the large companies, now owned by the “people”, or rather the state.

Fiscal Reform - Communist Style

After the war, the inflation was out of control. After taking over the responsibility of feeding the “people”, the communist government faced the problem of setting prices and salaries.

The communists are equalitarian. No-one can have more than the rest. Here is how they did it:

The government printed new currency and made the old currency worthless. I was 9 years old. Over night, everything was really cheap. What used to be 10,000 lei, now it was only 10 lei.

What I did not know at the time, was that the government provided every family with just 1,200 lei in exchange, regardless of how much money anyone had in the previous currency. All cash owned by individuals just disappeared over night. Individual bank accounts were closed and credit disappeared. Everyone had a new start, and equally poor: 1.200 lei period.

Economic Impact

The economic impact was immediate. The food just disappeared. No milk, no meat and even the black bread had to be rationed. You needed a coupon to buy a loaf of bread. Even during the war, there was more food available. This state of affairs lasted for many years. It got better for a while, and then it got worse again. At one point, people were happy when they could find chicken feet on the market. And that was after 15 years of communism.

The fall of communism has been attributed to President Ronald Regan by taking a strong stand against communism and calling it The Evil Empire, which it was. However, the collapse of the Soviet Union was due to common sense of the new and educated leaders who could not bear to lie and mislead their own people and the world community.

Communism collapsed on its own from top down. There was no one to support it.

About Me - Political Reflections From The Past - Behind The Iron Curtain

A Personal Contribution To The Conservative Cause

My name is Tr Cojoc,

I was born in Eastern Europe, right in the middle of the war. The year was 1941. The war eventually ended and the communism took over. I escaped communism with the sole purpose of making the United States my new country. The year was 1969. I became a naturalized US citizen in 1976. This country has been great to me. I am retired now living in California.

I am watching in amazement the presidential contenders promising to deliver just about everything under the sun to the “people”. This is a typical socialistic approach. Socialist undercurrents are not new to this country. Roosevelt had his Great Society, Nixon placed salary caps and taxed old and new oil differently creating gas shortages, Carter did even worse and the interest rates for a home went up to 20 percent. I can go on and on. All these measures were eventually repealed or in the case of Social Security, the country is still managing it somehow.

That is not the case when national security is influenced by socialist ideology.

The way communism landed in Eastern Europe puzzled me for long time. One day, I came across an old book, Inside Europe, by John Gunther, 1938 edition. It was like a time capsule, unrevised, frozen in time.

From 1924 to 1936, John Gunther was assigned to the London bureau of the Chicago Daily News. Well known author of several “Inside” books. Inside Europe is the source for my information. It is out of print, but you can still buy it used through Amazon.

1938 was an important year because it was only two years away from the war. England had several opportunities to stop Hitler in its tracks, when he had no weapons. England, not only didn’t stop him, it helped him. Stalin never intended to wage war anywhere. He had the International Proletariat that he financed whose mission was to build a strong communist party in each country worldwide.

Inside Europe by John Gunther, 1938 edition.

Yalta agreement between US, UK and Soviet Union signed by Roosevelt set the stage for the cold war. Roosevelt had the upper hand; he did not have to give Eastern Europe to Stalin but he did.

This is socialism at work. I am not saying that socialism will happen here in the USA, but it could.

Just think, free health-care and/or Obama becoming president.

The information presented on this site is intended to show how the socialist political leadership in Europe failed to prevent WWII and how US leadership fell into the same socialist trap that led to the cold war.

Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin and Roosevelt were socialists at heart.

Socialism Is Deadly

Socialism Is Deadly

The following are excerpts from Socialism Is Deadly:

Hitler raised to power by building the German Workers' Party. The name was changed by Hitler to include the term National Socialist. Thus the full name was the National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei orNSDAP) called for short, Nazi.

After the war, Soviet Union retained Eastern Europe and installed communist governments. They all became “Socialist”. CzechSocialistRepublic, Socialist Republic of Romania and so on.

Hitler was a socialist

By the autumn of 1937 Hitler had held three plebiscites. One asked vindication of his departure from the League of Nations, and he received a 92.3 per cent vote of confidence. The second sought acceptance of his combination of chancellorship and presidency after the death of Hindenburg; the affirmation vote was 88.3 per cent. The third followed the Rhineland crisis in March, 1936; the vote was 98 percent in support.

Hitler and his speeches

Hitler in his speeches, suggested to the German people first that they were sick, second that he alone could make them well.

His arguments were passionate:

You are humiliated. You are degraded. Germany is a sick nation. Admit it. Concede the extent of your misery. You have been trying to persuade yourselves that you are content with this miserable republic.

Those who stabbed you in the back, the Jews and the Marxists, are ruling you today. They prevent you from recovering your self-respect. They are the spiritual death of your nation. And your own spiritual death too. For you are Germany. We are Germany. Be men! Out with the traitors, the Jews, the pacifists, the republicans….” And so on.

These speeches had an immense emotional effect. Women, especially, were overcome by them. If the audience was full of women, Hitler would shriek out, “You are mine, and I am yours, as long as I live!

For the Germans, suppression of liberty was the price they were willing to pay for his leadership. Hitler was a socialist.

Stalin perfected Socialism. It is called Communism.

Under communism, dictatorship of the Proletarian is the rule. Anyone who is against the rules established by the communist rulers, is an enemy of the state and must be liquidated. By 1938, Stalin was still busy exterminating state enemies, by now in the millions.

The Soviets, under Stalin’s chairmanship, even had a constitution. “The Constitution guarantees paid employment, leisure, and free education to all the inhabitants of the country.”

Just like Hitler, Stalin had a similar, but different mission.

In 1938, Stalin was the leader of the Communist International, which had roots in ALL countries. He was confident, that the Communism will rule the word without any military intervention. Stalin had no reason to go to war. The only purpose of his army was to defend the new and young communist society he was building. In 1938 Stalin had no fighting army to speak of.

Roosevelt signs Yalta agreement

Roosevelt by signing the Yalta agreement with Stalin, did more damage to the world than the war itself.

By 1943, Roosevelt had come to the view that the independence of small states was an obstruction on the road to peace, and that the Great Powers had the right to impose governments on states without the consent of their populations. Roosevelt was entranced with a vision of a world peacefully directed by the U.S. and the Soviet Union.

Washington and London kept fueling Stalin's war machine even as it was enslaving much of Europe. "Soviet preponderance in Europe," noted Churchill's official biographer Martin Gilbert, did not stop more aid to Stalin, code-named Milepost, including a delivery agreed to on April 3, 1945--after FDR's above comment. "Under this agreement, Russia was to receive, and did receive, more than a thousand fighter aircraft and 240,000 tons of aircraft fuel, as well as 24,000 tons of rubber from Britain, and more than three thousand aircraft, three thousand tanks, nine thousand jeeps, sixteen thousand weapons carriers and 41,436 trucks from the United States, as well as nearly two thousand million dollars worth of machinery and equipment."

Manufacturing Jobs Go To Were They Are Welcomed

I worked in the electronics industry in various management positions expanding over 35 years.

In the early seventies, design and manufacturing of anything electronics was done in the
USA. I worked for a manufacturer of hand-held calculators as an electronics designer. This company was based in New Jersey and it manufactured everything in New Jersey. Sears was their largest customer.

In mid-seventies, while working for another company, we set up a manufacturing plant in Mexico, across the border in Nogales. Many American companies did the same. Some of them are still operating there today. The same happened in Canada. The business environment was helpful and friendly, and of course the manufacturing cost was lower than in the USA. By mid-nineties, the Mexican government started imposing all sorts of restrictions and regulations. A large number of companies shut down and left. The same happened in Canada. In the mid-eighties I was working for an electronics company in Southern California. This company was a pioneer in communication electronic devices. It had a factory already and it needed to expand. The company invested in equipment and buildings.

By the time everything was installed and functioning, the manufacturing facility was not compliant anymore under the fast changing air quality regulations in the state of California. The new regulations forced the company to sell its facilities and move its manufacturing to Singapore and Malaysia. The company is still in business today but there is no manufacturing in this country.

Made In China Is A Misnomer

The term “Made” implies creation, design and manufacturing of a certain item. That is not what is happening with products labeled “Made in China.

I worked for a very large electronics Taiwanese company. The company had engineering and manufacturing facilities in Taiwan. At the time, this company was the 4th largest Taiwanese company trading on the Taipei exchange, 4 billion USD. It supplied a key component required by every computer. Their top customers were Compaq, Dell, IBM and Hewlett Packard.

In the mid-nineties, the Communist China opened for business big time. It was a strategic move on China’s part. Make the country business friendly and everybody will come. And they did.

The Chinese government, in the nineties, started building manufacturing facilities (concrete walls, no equipment) along the southern border, close to Hong Kong. Hong Kong was a big port and easily accessible from mainland.
